Collaborating Performer

 

Sammie is an independent dance artist whose artistic practice ranges from performing and choreographing to teaching and facilitating. She works across a variety of styles from contemporary to hip hop. Sammie is passionate about working across arts education: teaching workshops for many years in high schools and leading various community projects.

 

Sammie’s performance credits include Force Majeure’s choreographic lab, short solo work ‘Little Girl’ for Makeshift Collective at Anywhere Theatre Festival, Motherboards’ production of ‘Deluge’ for Brisbane Festival, Seoul International Dance Festival & Sewol Memorial and ‘The Stance’ by Liesel Zink for Metro Arts’ Slipstream festival 2015.

 

Sammie’s choreographic experience is extensive.  Some of her choreographic credits include the film clip ‘Balloons’ for Foals and ‘Be Gone’ for Tara Simmons, ‘Empty Beats for Lonely Dancers’, ‘One Way’ and ‘Hands that Hurt’ for QUT graduation seasons. Sammie was a guest artist and movement director with Hot Brown Honey Burlesque for Brisbane Festival 2015. In October 2018, Sammie presented her final development of Hip-Hop dance theatre work  'One Way' as the inaugural recipient of the Mad Dance Grant supported my Mad Dance House and LaBoite Theatre.
