UK Independent Producer
Deb Ashby has had a 28-year career in the performing arts, which has given her a rounded view of the sector. This has included working at a major venue, in the dance & performance department at South Bank Centre with notable moments such as event co-ordinating DV8 Physical Theatre’s 'Enter Achilles', touring the UK as Company Manager with with Ballet Central, working for two dance development organisations, the latter of which she led. This role included initiating a range of projects including, Urban Moves International Dance Festival presenting professional dance performances outdoors & in unusual spaces and co-programming & managing a programme that included companies from Belgium, France, Greece Italy, Spain, South Korea and the UK. Additionally, she has worked for two funding bodies, starting her career working with the team on the National Arts & Media Strategy at Arts Council of Great Britain & more recently as a Peer Reviewer for Creative Scotland.
Deb has recently been using this experience to provide advisory & development support as a Freelance Consultant for the Hull Independent Producing Initiative (HIPI) at Absolutely Cultured and producing support to a range of independent performing arts artists across the North of England.
